Four leaves (with writing on both sides) of a rare 18th century Multicolored Gold Koran / Quran illuminated handwritten manuscript, with Arabic writing on both sides, showing exquisite calligraphy. One leaf has a gold word in the margin (see the 1st scanned image) and also a black word in the bottom margin. Very beautiful wide gold border with fine blue and red lines around the border. T are large gold circles as a mark for each verse or ayat, with blue and red dots in the design. T are red marks for diacritical and pronunciation. Also, t is an Arabic word in black ink in the bottom margin; and lastly, genuine Arabic numbers in pencil in the top margin (added much later). The paper is very thin, and the durability of this paper is obtained by covering the page surfaces with egg white or starch. T are stains and discolored, due to its use and age. This handwritten text of the Quran on paper exhibits superior calligraphy. Overall size: 3 3/4 in. x 5 1/2 in. Text area: about 2 in. x 3 1/2 in. Contains Sura or Chapter 5:96-108; 6:95-109, 139-148; and 12:23-37, in 4 leaves (containing 8 sides or pages). Notice especially the gold ink in the margin of the 1st leaf (see the 1st scanned image). T are numerous important references in these four (4) leaves: "the Quran" (Sura 5:100); "Satan" (Sura 6:142); and "the Jews" (Sura 6:148). Amazing read more
