This is a rare piece of Leeds creamware. It is the same as the illustration plate 13a in the book 'The Leeds Pottery' by Donald Towner (published 1963), he dates it as 1770.

It stands just 2.5 inches tall, and 5.6 inches long. Condition is fairly good, as can be expected for a utilitarian object a year short of its 240th birthday! T is a one inch faint hairline and the handle which should have 2 'branches' attaching it to the body has the last half inch broken off, the handle has been reglued too. See photos. It is however a beautiful Georgian shape and a beautifully potted piece.
