Leica 2F Camera S/N 787541 One of the last 2F Cameras The Serial Number is after the M3 The first M3 started in 1954 with # 700000 to 710000 Manufactured by Leitz in Germany 1955 This is a truly Antique Vintage A collector item I refurbished the camera. Installed new lether The Camera is fully functional Shutt er, Rangefinder and flash is working Winding is smooth With take up spool I worked for Leica / Leitz 50 Years And have been Factory Trained Ask me any Questions on all Leica Cameras and Microscopes Leica History: Oskar Barnack was the inventor of 35mm cameras. He called his Camera Leica ( Lei tz Ca mera) Oskar Barnack was born on November 1st 1879. He worked as an engineer. He died in Bad Nauheim in January 1936 aged 56 years and 2 months old. He was a German instrument maker who became head of the microscope department of Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar soon after joining the company in 1911 . After initial research on the construction of small cameras, Barnack began work on two prototypes of the Leitz Camera ( Leica ) in 1913 , used by himself and Leitz. The Leica I was launched commercially in 1925 . Barnack remained head of Leica's construction office until his death and developed many refinements of both cameras and lenses.
