LES PAUL GIBSON ELECTRIC RECORDING GUITAR PROJECT This is a serious and wonderful project guitar for someone with an understanding of instrument restoration! Everywhere we went in the guitar restoration and collection world in the process of researching this guitar, it was a standout! It got the attention of both restorers and musicians. This model (not this specific guitar) was Les Paul’s personal favorite. The original neck is broken off and missing, which means the serial number and date is also missing. The replacement Gibson recorder neck was factory ordered, probably in the mid to late 1970’s. I believe 1978. Restoration people we have talked to have said they have never seen a Gibson replacement neck for a recorder Les Paul as a standalone order! What’s left of the old neck would have to be removed, routed out, and shimmed into the proper pitch according to the experts we spoke with. The new neck is unfinished. The finish on the Gibson body has a few nicks and scratches (including a small chip above the output knob), but no major cracks. It is missing its tuning pegs, strings, and a bridge. Included is the body, the electronics, the pickups, a Gibson recording truss cover, the new Gibson neck, and a scraggly case. When tested, there didn’t seem to be current passing through the electronics, although the expert didn’t seem read more
