Item Number - 6073 A scarce and important original letter written on Discovery Antarctic Expedition 1901-04 headed paper, written during the expedition aboard 'Discovery' for posting at Auckland, on 27th March 1904 by George F.A. Mulock, Lieutenant, Royal Navy, who having served as Fourth Officer aboard the Expedition supply ship 'Morning' transferred on 1st March 1903 to 'Discovery' and replaced Ernest Shackleton as Third Lieutenant and Surveyor for the Expedition. His work in the Antarctic under Scott resulted in the publication by the Royal Geographical Society "The Charts of the Discovery Expedition". 3 sides, written in ink to his aunt Ethel, (Frances Ethel Homan Mulock) informing her of the arrival of "Discovery" from New Zealand yesterday with NZ papers - mentions his sadness at hearing of the death of Sir E. Braddon 'as he was also one of the scientists who was a member of the Southern Cross Expedition'.
