Levasseur maps are also known to offer a wealth of statistical data. Since present times, very few Levasseur maps were even moved out of France where they were mostly used in public libraries and town halls. This intricately detailed and beautifully rendered map, Ã,Â"Dept. Du FinistereÃ,Â", by Levasseur depicts the department of FinistÃf¨re, located in northwest France. The department of FinistÃf¨re is located in the region of Bretagne (Brittany), which includes the cities: Quinnrper, Brest, Chateaulin, Morlaix, and Quimperle. There is beautiful outline coloring coupled with the exacting cartography that Levasseur is known for. His work represents some of the last great decorative atlases of the 19th century.
