This vintage Blackamoor charm is larger than most I see; instead of just the head, as is typical, this one includes her upper torso as well. It measures 1 9/16" tall, 15/16" wide x 5/8" deep, marked 18k yellow gold with an Italian hallmark. This beauty is exquisitely carved from a black stone ~ could be black coral or another unknown natural material ~ with textured gold 'fabric' under her bust, around her sculpted back and completely capping the bottom. A carved and textured gold headdress decorates her head and a gold post protrudes from an earlobe ~ the front of the earring is gone, all that remains is the post. The princess does show considerable wear to some of her features. A shoulder, breast, and some facial features show smoothness and/or roughness; major details such as hair, eyes, and sculpted throat are still clear. In addition, her upraised arm ends at the wrist; the end is smoothed, not rough. A circle bail is attached to the top of her headdress. This interesting piece weighs 12.6g.
