This is a supurb, large, original, scenic Gallé French Cameo vase which has been in my family since its 1973 purchase from an antique shop in Rochester, Minnesota. I have tried to take photos which show the wonderful color changes in this vase depending upon the light. And also, I have taken some very close-up photos to show the exquisite, detailed acid cutback. Note: the photo of the base (fourth row, right) shows the finished base with marks from a sticker and pads used to protect the surface it may be placed on. Description from our Sotheby's insurance appraisal in 1991: "Gallé Cameo Glass Landscape Vase. Circa 1900. The pyriform vessel with flaring lip in gray glass streaked with opalescent lemon yellow, overlaid in deepest purple, sky blue, and deeper blue, and cut with a mountainous landscape with tranquil lake in the near distance and stately conifers in the foreground, signed in cameo Gallé. Height: 12 1/2 inches, $7,000." Condition: Excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs of any kind. And definitely no neck reduction (cut-down or re-polish). Height: 12.5" Weight: 3 lbs. 14 oz. (1,760 grams) Because of thevery heavy weight of this vase, the packing (double boxed safe) and shipping charges will be a flat rate of$23.00 for U.S.P.S. Parcel Post (appox. 7 days) with insurance included; or $43.00 for U.S.P.S. Priority Mail (2 days) insurance included. Or arrangements can be made to pick up the vase in New York City. * T is NO buyer premium added to the purchase price of this piece. ** Please ask any questions you may have before bidding as t are no returns. Thank you for your consideration.
