Up for your consideration is one LGB G-scale F7A diesel locomotive (model # 23570) in very good condition. This locomotive has only been run for testing purposes and has a total track time of less than two minutes. It has been used as a display model in a home office for many years. This unit has a built-in speaker and can produce sound only when coupled with a matching F7B unit, which is not included in this auction. The unit is missing the two small cosmetic "plugs" that cover the two mounting holes on the rear of the FRONT truck. You can see that the REAR truck has two brake cylinders on each side, one in front and one in back; however, the FRONT truck only has one brake cylinder on each side, which is the forward cylinder. In the pictures, you can see a hole in the rear of the FRONT truck frame just behind the step ladder where the rear cylinder would prototypically be. The hole on one side is square, and the other is rectangular. For those that do not know this product well, the two rear brake cylinders for the front truck came detached from the factory and were in a sealed bag. The mounting holes had small plastic "plugs" that covered the holes so they would not be noticeable. The reason these cylinders came detached is because they could only be installed on the truck if the locomotive was to be used for display purposes only. They could not be used if the locomotive was to be operated on a layout because they would drastically reduce the ability of the front truck to swivel while traversing a curve. This was because the cylinder would hit the step ladder on the body when the truck swiveled a small amount. The detached brake cylinders mentioned above that are used for display purposes only are also missing. If you plan on running this unit, you would never need them. Finally, a third "plug" is also missing, which was used to cover the round hole in the rear door. This hole is used for a volume knob on the B units, and since LGB used the same door for the A units even though they did not have a volume knob, they put a plug in the hole on the A units. These are all strictly cosmetic parts that minimally impact the unit's appearance, and they have no affect on performance. Other than the missing cosmetic parts, the locomotive itself is mint. There's not a scratch, dent, chip, broken, or damaged part. The body, chassis, couplers, pickup shoes, and wheels show no signs of wear. It comes with the original box and two electric cables for electronically connecting to the aforementioned B unit. One cable (4 conductor) transfers track power from the A unit to the sound module in the non-powered B unit. The second cable (2 conductor) transfers the audio signal from the sound module to the speaker housed in the bottom of the A unit. Again, I do not have a matching B unit for sale. It is only mentioned here to describe the features of this unit. The owner's manual was lost; however, I can make a photo copy of the owner's manual from an LGB Santa Fe F7A, which is exactly like this one except for the paint scheme.
