Up for auction today is a great find, a wonderful set of rare large Lia Link studio modernist sterling silver jewelry: an open cuff bangle bracelet and a large pendant necklace. Looks to be handcrafted in the 1970's from older vintage silver parts (taken from silverware and old Mexican silver jewelry). Bracelet and necklace both have a very THICK central sterling silver medallion. Inner diamter of bracelet is about 2 1/2 inches with an opening of 1 1/2 inches. Front area of bracelet is about 2 1/2 inches high. On both pieces, the medallion is fused to a silver fork, the prongs of which are twisted around to form a striking accent to the design. The pendant necklace is hung from a large flat sterling chain marked "925," which is about 19 inches long. Pendant portion is about 2 1/2 inches across. On the pendant, the medallion's Mexican mark is covered by the fork, but it tests positive by a jeweler as sterling silver. The fork area on the pendant is etched with a signature on the back by the designer, "LIA LINK." On the bracelet, the medallion is marked on the back, "MEXICO," "TN-__" (covered up by fork), and "925," plus possibly other marks further down covered by fork. The back of the fork is signed by the designer, "LIA LINK" and also has an original mark further down on the fork handle which is quite worn but looks like "BARONESS" and "SILVER" and something else which may be "PLATE." I thought this meant that the fork was silver-plated but it was tested by a jeweler who said that it was sterling silver, so I don't know about that part. Such an unusual, interesting set, so rare. I have never seen another one like it on ebay. Rare beautiful jewelry with low starting bid; don't miss out on this one! All parts and mechanisms are working and no parts are missing unless otherwise noted. We do not bother to have items tested which are marked with sterling hallmarks; items have only been tested for metal content if noted in description. Items have not been cleaned and may have age or storage soil/wear. No significant damage unless otherwise noted in description. All items are used vintage unless otherwise noted. Thanks for looking! Perfect for your collection or as a GIFT! Vintage jewelry is extremely collectible and fashionable right now; it is all over the runways and television and looks great with current retro fashion as well as vintage clothing. Vintage jewelry pieces are of much higher quality than current reproductions and will only go up in value though they become harder and harder to find.
