Liberty Sacajawea dollar 2000 Set of Four Liberty Sacajawea dollar 2000 Set of Four. In early 2000, the U.S. Mint issued the first Sacajawea "Golden" Dollar, the first new coin of the new Millenium. The design by noted sculptor Glenna Goodacre was selected to honor the young Shoshone Indian girl Sacajawea (translated as "Bird Woman"). She assisted Lewis and Clark as an interpreter and guide on their historic Corps of Discovery expedition to the Pacific Northwest in 1804. Sacajawea was the Shoshone Indian girl who assisted Lewis and Clark in their historic expedition between 1804-1806. She guided them from the northern great plains to the Pacific Ocean and back along with her husband Charbonneau, and their son Jean Baptiste, who was born during the expedition. Its obverse depicts Sacajawea carrying her newborn son, Jean Baptiste and the reverse has a magnificent eagle soaring in flight.Condition is slightly used. Has a "D" beneath the date.
