The U.S. Maritime Commission designed and built C-2 type cargo ships during World War II, as a much needed large capacity heavy cargo ship for the world’s maritime commerce. The U.S. Navy acquired several of these ships during construction and converted them to fast attack cargo ships, troop transports and ammunitions ships. To keep the vast wartime fleet supplied with every thing from beans to bombs and artillery shells, a large armada of supply ships were needed and these were welcome additions. Some of these ships served with the U.S. and foreign navies, along with several smaller shipping lines. Model is made of Balsa and shows normal wear and tear for age. Hull is in good shape as are the lifeboats and hatch covers. Some deck hardware is loose ( see Photos ). Will look great with some work. 48x7x5 inches. Model is of the American Scout. Possible R/C conversion. Item sold as is, see pictures.
