Any edge tears have been mended with archival tape. In volume one there were two small sections that had come loose from book and have been rejoined with archival tape, they did not quite fit back into the tight binding so when the book is closed, they stick out just a bit. When book is opened they lay even. Original owner signed inside covers. Pages are printed in double column and framed in an ornate border. Each division or subject has a title page in silhouette which is exquisitely done. Photogravures of all the famous poets are throughout both volumes. Even the inside edge of each books boards have elaborate gold decoration. These books were hand made with large hinges so that covers lay flat when open. This is an opportunity to own a work of art filled with 1016 pages of wonderful poetry plus 103 illustrations. A must have for your home or office, an excellent antique gift!
