The Life of David Dudley Field" is a 361 page, 6.5"x9" hardcover written by Henry Martyn Field (David Field's younger brother) and published in 1898 by Charles Scribner's Sons. There's an inscription from the author on the 2nd page. Field was an attorney remembered primarily for his long effort to unify and simplify American common law. The result, known as the Field Code, was ultimately adopted, all or in part, by California and seventeen other states. The book is in good condition, with no dust jacket. The brown cloth cover is sunned on the spine and at front top, with general wear: scuffing, small spots, bumped corners. The interior is unmarked (except for the author's inscription and a few small pencil notes on the ffep), and appears unread. There's a small amount of foxing on a couple pages.
