LIFE OF ELDER BENJAMIN RANDAL principally taken from documents written by himself by John Buzzell. Published by Hobbs, Woodman & Co., Limerick , 1827. First edition with 308 pages. Original full leather binding worn but tight. Front blank fly leaf has loss to lower corner of page, many pages have tears with no loss. Last few pages edge worn, else text is tight. A fair copy of an early Limerick Maine imprint. Randal was an early Freewill Baptist and was instrumental in establishing many churches throughout Northern New England. Buzzell, a fellow elder and friend of Randal's wrote this biography after Randal's death, using his journal, letters and conversations that the author had with Randal while travelling together throughout New England. This important biography gives a detailed description of New England in the late 18th century and of the establishment of the Freewill Baptists.
