THE LIFE OF GEORGE WASHINGTON by Jared Sparks 1860, Little Brown and Co., Boston, 562 pages. The prominent early biography of General and President George Washington by the author who studied and edited The Writings of George Washington . Enhanced with 2 engraved illustrations which are portraits of a young George Washington and a young Martha Washington, plus a page with several facsimile signatures of George Washington. Hard cover book in Good+ condition, tight and clean no marks except gift inscription (dated 1860) on free front page; very small book plate of the owner on inside front cover. Pages are clean and white with slight browning near the edges and no foxing. Brown blind-stamped covers with gilt titles on the spine are bright and clear; minor fraying and rubbing at spine ends, spine edges, and corners. No dust jacket.
