Dilworth Leeds, 1758 *VERY RARE FIRST EDITION* Presented here is an exceptionally rare first edition printing on the life and military history of Marshal Maurice de Saxe, who was a Saxon soldier in the French Service and was later appointed Marshal General of France. Bound in quarter vellum with hardback marbled boards. Some gilt to spine with gilt lettering for title on red morocco label. Collates (2), 156 pages, plus engraved plate. According to ESTC collation, this printing is complete. (The text is certainly complete, however the ESTC entry indicates there should be "plates" plural, but this copy only has one engraved plate. There does not appear to be any obvious place where a plate was cut out, so perhaps this printing was not originally bound with any additional plates.) Text block is in superb condition: solid, clean, and bright. Generally a very desirable item! As stated above, this printing is a VERY RARE first edition.
