These are the first four volumes of Kitchen Sink Press's ambitious (and long out of print) project to reprint the complete Li'l Abner comic strip. These four softcover volumes cover the first complete four years of Al Capp's history-making comic strip, from the introduction of Abner and the residents of Dogpatch in 1934 through the introduction of the Scraggs, Old Man Mose and the Strange Gal in 1938. Students of comic strips, newspaper comics and the four panel form would do well to study the rich characters, humorous situations and (above all) brilliant writing and artistry of these strips. Fans of laughing their posteriors off won't care about any of that but will find Dogpatch the proverbial hoot.Li'l Abner was one of the most important newspaper comics ever produced, with an amazing fifty-four year run with Al Capp at the helm. Bitingly satirical, unafraid to take on sacred cows, and so popular that the wedding of Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae made the cover of Life Magazine, this is a chance to see the foundations of one of the most influential comic strips in history. These four volumes are in good to excellent condition, with some minor shelf wear and a slight amount of 'warp.' The pages are unblemished and untorn, the covers are in good to excellent condition, and the spines are unbroken.Your library deserves this. You deserve read more
