BOB WHITE Custom Survival Knife (Lile Sly II Copy) THIS KNIFE IS AWESOME BUT I NEED MONEY QUICKLY SO IT WILL BE THE PRIDE OF SOMEONELSE. This cool knife was handmade in the '80s with D2 Steel. its a very cool looking multitools/purpose Survival Knife!!! The last time that this knife was on ebay it was sold over $870.00 USD in August 2007 The following information was provided to me from the original owner upon my purchase of this knife. "You are looking at a handmade custom knife made by Bob White Sr.. Bob was a member of the Knifemakers guild. Bob pass away in 1992. Bob was from the Galesburg area. Bob's son also made knives but signed his with a printed name instead of written out. The knife is made of D2 tool steel. I commissioned Bob to make it shortly after the first First Blood movie came out. It is numbered 10 because Bob apparently had 9 regular customers who bought one of everything he made. It has a compass in the skull crusher cap and has a rubber O-ring to protect the contents of the handle which is hollow. The blade is about 8 13/16" long and the overall length is about 15 1/8". It has a diamond sharpener rather than a stone. The handle is wrapped with a nylon line". Condition: The knife has some very faint superficial pitting due to age and storage conditions and the blade has some very fine scratches in the finish (looks like someone rubbed the blade with a plastic scotch guard pad). A quick beadblast would return the finish to its original condition. The blade does look like it has not been sharpened with the EZ Lap sharpener. The Blade is extremely Sharp! The compass is like the original Lile Sly II compass (dry compass) and works perfectly. The buttcap is the Lile type and has been sandblasted. This is a pretty nice Sly II copy but has a hollow ground blade with the grind that ends halfway up instead of a flat grind that runs the entire width of the blade like the Sly II. The blade thickness is 3/16" and the entire knife feels very well made and well balanced. The hollow handle is longer and provides more storage space. The sheath is well made whole grain leather and is still in great condition (not dry or cracked) and holds an EZ Lap sharpener. Please do not bid unless you intend to buy this item.
