From 1879 to 1904 Lillian Russell was the Marilyn Monroe of her era ... and her era lasted quite a while. Her impact on culture was, well, she was the celebrity icon for decades. In our era, celebrities have a mush shorter "fifteen minutes of fame" at the top of the pyramid being replaced sequentially. The Davis Cabinet Company of Nashville, Tennesse, created some fo the finest hand crafted solid native furniture of the early 20th century. Using solid walnut and solid cherry, Davis craftsmen designed and built beautiful, heirloom quality furniture. My great grandfather invented the the mold and process to make seamless vulcanized rubber inner tubes. He sold this invention to Harvey Firestone. He liked fine things. My mother was getting married and as a wedding present picked the Davis Cabinet Company Lillian Russell solid American Walnut Bedroom suite. T was no better furniture than that made by the Davis Cabinet Company in Nashville and their premium line was Lillian Russell. This CHEST is built from solid walnut with dovetaile joints and absolutely flawless technique. My mother's family was famous for being maticulous, their house was like a musem. Today, this suite shows very little use with only two light (less than 1/2 inch long) finish blimishes on the top surface, no chipes, cracks, missing or replaced parts. All the drawers
