Offered is a very famous LIMA British 6 Silver Shilling that was minted in the London Mint in 1745 and 1746 from captured Spanish Silver. British coins like this circulated in the American Colonies and George Washington was a teenager when this coin was minted. It is special and very collectable because of the word LIMA under the bust of King George II to celebrate the exploit. (see story below). The obverse is a little nicer than the reverse and probably grades nearly an EF with no scratches, rim dings, and the coin is not bent. The date is readable. The size of the coin is about the size of a US Quarter. 1746 King George II Shilling, Lima below bust - Pricing Reference in British Pounds: Spink 2012 catalogue ref. 3710 A and C: F £30; VF £125; EF £250.
