Fabulous French Porcelain Limoges Box Gold Victorian Hat Box Hand Sculpted and Hand Painted with Gold Hat inside! This is a BARGAIN as it cost twice as much! The gold design is not simply painted on the Limoges Box, it was actually sculpted into the wet porcelain! Sculpted embossing is almost a lost art in porcelain. This is one of the finest boxes we have ever owned. It was #29 of the only 999 that were produced. After sculpting, the gold paint is applied by hand and fired. It is then hand painted with shaded pink roses and shaded green leaves. It is then fired again. The inside of the box also has a painted rose. The clasp is appropriately a rose. This box originated from the estate of Sally Abney Rose of South Carolina, one of the foremost glass and porcelain collectors in America. Mrs. Rose had a magnificent collection of over 450 Limoges Boxes that were beautifully displayed. When she passed away at age 92, I purchased 69 of her most elegant boxes. Our wonderful boxes are guaranteed to be authentic!!! Our goal is to provide our customers the highest quality Limoges Boxes and antiques with the best price and service possible. Please read our feedback and then bid with confidence; 100% satisfaction guaranteed. All items have a low starting bid price. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask before bidding. Limoges (pronounced "le moje ") Boxes are not produced by one big company called "Limoges, Inc." Limoges is both a city and a region in France, and porcelain works of art from this region can be designated, by French law, as "Limoges Porcelain". In this region, a number of artists and craftsmen, some working independently, and others working as part of a larger factory, produce the boxes known as "Limoges boxes". Originally a practical item for, among other uses, the storage of snuff, Limoges boxes have evolved over their 200-plus year history into decorative works of art cherished by collectors around the world. Every Limoges box is a hand crafted work of art. Small imperfections are natural and are part of their charm and uniqueness. The colors and brush strokes will vary with each individual piece. Your box will ship within 24 hours of payment and we will be happy to combine shipping on multiple auctions to save you shipping costs. Insurance is manditory and included in the shipping and handling. Good luck and happy bidding! Have a Very Romantic Valentine's Day !!!!
