Limoges Box - Peint Main - Vintage Egg W/Seahorse Clasp - Signed By Artist MC! - So Special!The artist MC frequently worked for Rochard but also did eponymous pieces and collecting either or both of these has become something of a cult among Limoges box enthusiasts. This artist's work is hallmarked by a delicate sensibility that renders it identifiable even when his/her initials are not in an easy-to-see location. Over the past few weeks I have listed several pieces by MC, so if you're not a fan yet, now is a great time to jump on this train! This piece is a lovely vintage egg with a unique seahorse clasp - I have never seen this clasp before and it certainly is something special. The blue pattern is reminiscent of a fleur-de-lys and the small dots between are gold. The frame seems to be slightly discolored - I didn't notice this until I photographed it and I'm not sure how to clean it, so I leave it up to the new owner to do what you will with it. If you did nothing, you and I would probably be the only people who know about it! The box opens smoothly and closes with a snap and the artist's initials are not only on the bottom but hidden behind the clasp on the top of the box as well. It measures 1 7/16" wide x 1 7/8" deep x 1 3/8" tall. These measurements are with the clasp in front. This is a lovely size which fits the pattern
