Beautiful Haviland porcelain cobalt & gold cup and saucer set This beautiful Haviland porcelain cup and saucer are in excellent condition. The decorative motif which is in gold on a cobalt ground looks to be laurel garlands. Gold overglaze is on the edge of both the saucer and the outside lip of the cup. Again, the laurel garland is echoed on the inside of the cup and the center cup rest area of the saucer. Both the center of the saucer and the inside of the cup are an ivory or bone glaze. The glazes are in excellent condition. T are no cracks or chips. Dating is circa 1900. I'm dating these as such, based on provenance. These belonged to my grandmother who had either received them as wedding presents or purchased them around the time of her marriage which was around 1900. The set was purchased from Nathan Dohrmann Co., one of the most prominent purveyors of fine china at the turn of the century. The store itself was destroyed during the 1906 SF earthquake, although the company continued to exist until well into the mid 20th century. Dimensions: Cup 3" h. x 3" dia. (at mouth of cup) Saucer 5" dia. (all measurements are approximate) The markings appear on both the bottom of the cup and saucer, and on both, t is a green Haviland France stamp. T is also a red Haviland & Co. Limoges for NATHAN DOHRMANN Co. Please don't hesitate read more
