This set was produced by Lincoln Mint in 1971. Beginning in Feb., 1971, one (1) medal was shipped each month for (36) months. There was a limited edition of only 5,000 Proof sets issued using .999 Silver. Each commemorative medal is 39mm (larger than a silver dollar) and contains at least one full ounce of .999 pure silver- at least 36 ounces of Pure Silver in the Set. This set has been stored since it was completed. The coins were placed in the binder and are protected on both sides by an acetate cover, and have not been handled. There is some tarnishing on the coins due to their age, but no signs of being handled. This incredible set is complete with all 36 medals and most of the support information. Lincoln Mint is renowned for their very high quality strikes and attention to detail. Each medal is a collectible item by itself, but this is an original pristine set of all 36 medals in the original binder. Lincoln Mint material is known for its very high quality, but was never as common as Franklin Mint and extremely difficult to find today. This set was limited to 5000, and each medal is marked with the certificate of authenticity number # 3405.
