Lionel 182 Magnetic Operating Gantry Crane

DESCRIPTION: Lionel 182 Triple-Action Magnetic Operating Gantry Crane. This is a fully operational crane in good shape. The magnet, hook, cable/string appear to be original. This crane has the grey smoke stack. Included are four wooden items with metal plate that the magnetic crane can pick up; two red Lionel barrel shaped items., one natural wood Lionel item and one home made rectangular object.

OPERATION: All features to the Crane work very well. The cab rotates right and left. The cable with hook raises and lowers the magnet. The Magnet can be tuned on or off and is capable of picking up all kinds of metal stuff, like bolts and nuts. You can feel the magnetic attraction force. The Cab lights up Red when the magnet is switched on. The crane Boom can be raised or lowered by turning the crank handle at the back of the cab. Instructions of how to use the replacement controller are included. CONDITION: This crane is in good condition. There are no cracks in the plastic or broken pieces. The crane cab is painted black with some scuffs, the white lettering is good. The crane cable / string appears to be original and in good shape. The metal Tower structure is painted silver with some wear. The Ladder is painted red. The black plastic Base has a small square hole cut out, it has been concealed from the bottom with a cover. WIRING / CONTROLER: The cable running to the magnet is good original black cloth covered wire. The wiring from cab from the base of the crane has been replaced, these wires are hidden behind the metal tower rails. Tower has replacement connection points that allow attachment to your transformer. A replacement terminal strip is under the base and it serves as the connection point from the crane to the controller. New wires connect the crane to the controller. The controller is a not the original to the crane, but it is a Lionel Switch Controller. The controller is in good shape with no cracks; it is missing one lens. A separate switch turns the magnet on or off and is attached to the controller. MANUFACTURER/AGE: . Lionel offered this crane in the Post War from only 1946 to 1949. This Lionel accessory is required for any enthusiast display, or working layout. Cranes that operate are had to find.
