Another rare set.......the uncataloged 1960 Halloween General set. Again, realizing the need for detail, I must be a purist on this one. Here is what I know. The engine has a chip out of the back corner of the cab, a replaced cowcatcher, some new trim parts. All functions work as they should and the unit has been cleaned and lubricated......it runs very well. The tender is in nice complete shape......the tongue has been replaced. The 1885, blue car, is in good complete shape with nothing broken. The 1886 yellow car has 2 broken steps and a piece of the handrail on the end of the car missing. The 1887 car has new yellow gates on the top and one of the nickel rails beneath is new. All in all, this is a pretty nice representation of this very difficult to find set. I have put a reserve on this set. Also, insured shipping on this set is $20.During the next 4 weeks I will be selling a significant collection of Lionel, Marx, American Flyer and MTH O, O27, S, and Standard gauge prewar, postwar, and modern electric trains and train items. I will also be listing some New, in the box, Hallmark ornaments, Plasticville complete and partial kits and constructed Ameritowne buildings, complete with Miller Engineering lighted signs and lighted interiors. Auctions will begin on Thursday, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28 and 12/5 and will run for 10 days…….so as to assure delivery in plenty of time for Christmas. The first week of auctions will include parts, pieces, and trains that are not in real good shape or are in need of repair. The following three weeks will include some very nice trains and related equipment. The majority of these impeccable items come from the liquidation of a collection and items from a train repair shop and store. Most all of the equipment is very well cared for, cleaned, lubricated and ready to go. Some of the items may have had paint touch up or have been painted through the years or may have had broken parts replaced with reproductions…….I only mention this as sometimes folks take a real purist view on these collectible items and desire only pieces that are guaranteed truly 100% original issue. In summary, there are some really nice older trains that run almost as if they are new in addition to looking very nice. Boxes are occasionally included and will be noted if so within the specifics of the listing write-up……..please note that Lionel boxes are used in a great deal of the pictures as a back drop and are not necessarily included with the purchased auction item. Many auctions have a “Buy it now” feature for quick turnaround. If purchases are made with the “Buy it now”, shipping is free. Shipping cost on each auction will be included within each items write-up. I will gladly consolidate shipping on multiple auction winnings. Should you ever have any questions, please drop me a note. Thank You.
