This auction is for the Lionel #2279W five car freight set. Included is the # 2350 New Haven EP-5 electric, 3424 Operating Brakeman Car, 6464-425 New Haven Boxcar, 6424 Flatcar with Autos, 6477 Miscellaneous Car with Pipes, 6427 Lionel Lines Porthole Caboose, eight curved and seven pieces straight O gauge track; uncoupling/operating section and even the 1957 catalog along with the instructions. This set is very clean and was purchased from the original owner who obviously took really great care of this beautiful set from 1957. The only things worth mentioning that I can see are a few tell tales are off and the automobile cars inner inner tuck flap has come detached on the inside of box ( the flap that holds the car in place on the inside of box if shaken) , but is present and the miscellaneous car box is missing inner inner tuck flap on one side, the new haven box has a name with last initial on it and the uncoupling section needs to most likely have the wire replaced ( I didn't take out of box because it would be difficult to put back in to show for pics). Everything is otherwise solid and looks complete. A real nice beautiful set for the collector. What you see pictured is what you will recieve. *** A special note....In case all you train collectors haven't noticed Lionel made an unusual version of the 2350 (type V) for unknown reasons that was identical to the common version, except the upper orange and lower white stripes went completely through the door jams and even more rare is the idea it was put into a set.
