This is the #2341 Jersey Central FM Diesel Engine that Lionel made circa 1956. The color is shiny orange with typical and very faint hairline cracks at the screw-holes.It has been in the Seller's possession since Christmas morning 1956 and therefore all the parts are original. The box will be sold in a seperate auction at a later date. The 2341 Jersey Central was introduced to the Lionel line in 1956 (54 years ago !)...There were two production runs of the Jersey Central in 1956, the only year the locomotive was made... The Jersey Central did not sell very well, making it the rarest of the FM units and one of the most prized of all postwar locomotives. The rarity of the Jersey Central has led to a certain amount of counterfeiting among the more larcenous in the train collecting community. Description: (please see pictures for condition) Orange body with blue stripe and roof, white heat stamped lettering, different spacing between "Jersey" and "Central on each side, operating couplers at both ends, magnatraction, three position E-unit, lights at both ends, twin verticle motors, horn and considered by many to be an excellent runner... rub mark and small scratch on shell... This one is for the serious Lionel collector. Travel back to a wonderful time in our country's history when Christmas held such wonderful promise for all of us! please note: This is a 3 rail engine.
