THE WESTERN PACIFIC WAS MADE IN 1952-54 AND IS A COLLECTOR FAVORITE. ITS COLORFUL ORANGE AND SILVER PAINT SCHEME IS ATTRACTIVE BUT VERY DELICATE. THE SILVER WOULD RUB OFF THE SIDES OF THE ROOF FROM LIFTING THE ENGINE AND B-UNIT FROM THE TOP AND MIDDLE. THE DECAL OFTEN FLAKED AND BROKE UP ON THE FRONT DOOR. IT HAS NEAR PERFECT BRICK-LIKE BOXES(SQUARE, HARD FIRM AND CLEAN) . THE ENGINE BOX RATES A C-10, THE MASTER CARTON C-9 AND DUMMY BOX A C-8. FINALLY, THE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ORIGINAL WRAPPING PAPER ARE INCLUDED.
IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE NEAR PERFECT UNBLEMISHED CONDITION FOR YOUR COLLECTION, THIS ENGINE FITS THE BILL. IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST DIFFICULT ENGINE TO FIND WITH UNBLEMISHED PAINT AND DECALS. THIS UNIT IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY AND COLLECTOR GRADE SO PLEASE CONSIDER THIS IF YOU CHOOSE TO BID. EXAMINE THE PICTURES CAREFULLY AND YOU WILL SEE THE QUALITY OF THIS FANTASTIC RIO GRANDE AB. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CONDITION . A MAGNIFICENT TRAIN!
The 2345 is the harder of the two WPs find in this condition. 99% of the time, decals are severely flaked or silver paint is marred. It is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find great silver with great decals in a master carton. These show up about as often as Haley's Comet. We have a difficult time with determining whether this unit is mint or slightly test run. You be the judge. Check out the pictures of the wheels. With this engine, mint really is not as important as the condition of the decals and silver paint. You just don't see them like this. It's a rare opportunity so don't miss out.
This pristine orange and silver beauty is as rich in color as the day it was made. With near perfect boxes, this engine is highly desirable. Finding one that has no box rub marks is very rare. There are no handling rubs on it where most people pick them up (sides of roof in the center of the engine). In this condition, it will sell for $6000 OR MORE at prime auctions and collector shows. Please consider the difficulty of finding a piece in this condition, age, rarity and the delicate nature of the paint as the driving forces of its value. We are below the market value with our reserve on this piece. It's a lot of money, but when do you ever see trains like these we have on eBay. Good luck if you choose to bid and email me if you have questions or need more pictures or information. I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.
