Up for bidding is a Lionel 345 Operating Culvert Unloader. Manufactured by Lionel in 1957-59. One of the most fascinating Operating Accesories ever produced by Lionel, This Accessory demonstrates how creative and innovative the engineers were during Lionel's Golden Years. And now, you have the opportunity be the proud owner of one of Lionel's most innovative accessories. As kids, our layout under the Christmas tree always featured culvert operations. O ut of all of the Lionel operating accesories, our family enjoyed the Culvert units the most . This culvert unloader is complete, strung correctly and tested for smooth operation. There are no broken railings on the ramp (often broken) and the building windows are complete and intact. The building supports are rust free and looks really nice. The original terminal screw knobs are present and the all important base screw is there with an intact screw hole mounting area on the base, this is the one of the most common area's that get's broken. There is some wear and paint loss on the side supports of the crane structure (see pics) but is not offensive. The base of the unit is very nice on top as well as underneath. The original counter weight was stolen by local railroad vagrants, probably for scrap, so we installed a replacement as are the terminal studs. The unit will be shipped to you
