This Auction is for what I believe to be a Lionel, or Replica of a No. 42 Electric, 0-B+B-0, that was produced in 1912 and 1913, in Standard Gauge. To be clear, I am not an Expert on Lionel Standard Gauge Trains. I am only presenting this item based on what I have learned from research, and what can clearly be seen. So here we go! I'm not sure wether this was a Kit that could be purchased, or if someone with alot of talent was building this from scratch. The body of this Locomotive is made entirely out of Brass, and has been soldered together. There are three Brass Strips that were taped to the Roof when I received it, and it appears that there should have been a forth, that is missing. One of the Ladders to the Cab is broken off, and one is missing. The Couplers, Bells, and Head Lamp Assembly, all look to be Repoductions. Also, the Wheels (even though they have the Lionel markings on them) and the Non-Powered Truck, look to be Repro Items.The Motor Assembly, Chassis and Drive Wheels, Reverse Unit, and the two Cow Catchers, seem to be the only Original Parts from the Early 1900's, and could be from a No.38 or No.42 Locomotive. I DID TEST THE MOTOR, AND IT FUNCTIONED AS IT SHOULD, IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE. The Wiring has all been replaced, but the MOTOR SHOULD BE SERVICED BEFORE EXTENDED USE.
