This is the incredibly scarce 1948 Lionel top of the line O gauge passenger set 2144W. Headed by the massive Pennsylvania GG-1 introduced just one year earlier, this striking set includes the 2625, 27 and 28 Madison Cars. This is in stunning like new condition with all original, correct boxes. This set was purchased from the original owner and it has been carefully stored for decades. Everything about this set is right---nothing "put together" here. Note that the Madison boxes are correct for 1948 as is the locomotive box (with liner). Two of the three Madison boxes have their liners. The locomotive box is 9+ while the car boxes grade slightly less with a couple of missing end flaps. The stripes on this engine are as consistent and bright as I have ever seen on a 2332 and they were notorious for fading and losing their luster with just the slightest touching and/or handling. The pantographs are original and complete with their original aged insulators. This is a serious collector quality set in complete original condition.
