Up for auction at NO RESERVE is a Vintage LIONEL #6315 (early) GULF 1-D Chemical Tank Car set in exceptional shape. It is complete, correct and all original. This car is the more desirable early version high gloss painted burnt orange and black with clear crisp graphic lettering. It is in excellent condition, especially given that it is a painted over black molded body. This is a beautiful single dome tank car. The Gulf Chemical Tank Car No. 6315 has four variations. Built between 1956 and 1958, the first two of these versions would have the BURNT ORANGE/BLACK coloring, a "BLT 1-56" date on sides, along with bar-end trucks and tabbed couplers. The other two variations would be produced in the last two years of the post war era, 1968-69, and these versions have a solid ORANGE tank with late AAR trucks and disc couplers. Variation A: Hi-gloss BURNT ORANGE/BLACK tank with bar-end trucks and magnetic tabbed couplers. Variation B: Identical to Variation A except Flat painted RED/ORANGE and BLACK tank. Variation C: ORANGE tank that is not painted and has no built date. Came with late AAR trucks and was housed in a Hagerstown Checkerboard box with "6315 / CHEMICAL / TANK CAR" printed on both box ends.
