LIONEL ELECTRIC TRAINS #6446 N&W QUAD HOPPER BLACK Up for auction is an original 1954-1955 Lionel #6446 N&W QUAD HOPPER BLACK. This car is used but a s you can see in the photos, this car is in good condition. The trucks are original, and they pivot as they should. The wheels roll freely, and both couplers work fine. I will make sure it is wrapped in foam, and thick cardboard for it's journey to the winning bidder ! You are bidding on exactly what is pictured, and that's what will be shipped to the winning bidder. History The Norfolk & Western Quad Hopper Car No. 6446 was available in 1954 and 1955, and shows the number "546446" and "NEW 6-54" on the sides. In 1955 the number that is printed on the car changed to "644625." It came with hatch covers that are held to the body by three clips. This quad hopper has a brake wheel along with bar-end trucks that came with magnetic couplers. There are three variations: Variation A: GRAY car with BLACK lettering and no center brace holes on the sides. Variation B: BLACK body with WHITE lettering and no center brace holes on the sides. Variation C: BLACK body with WHITE lettering with center brace holes on the sides. This item came out of a estate collection that I purchased recently. Its original owner had been collecting 'O' scale trains for over 50 years. I knew him very well and he only collected original pieces and had no time for fakes or knockoffs. He has passed on and now his collection is being sold off. Mark me as a favorite seller as there will be a lot of 'O' scale listed and sold. This is a nice, original Lionel piece, that would make a great addition to anyPost-War Lionel collection! My knowledge is limited on all of this vintage Lionel product. I am not a Lionel Expert. I have researched the items as best as I could, and am listing them as is, in the condition that you see in the photos. The pieces are as they came out of the storage containers, most of them wrapped in newspaper from the early 1980's - My description is based on what I am looking at in front of me, and what I have found out about the original piece when it was Manufactured. I am not the original owner and I don't have any knowledge as to what has happened to each item from it's original sale date - to this point in time.
