Tom's Modern Era Lionel Tom Marchesani TCA #88-27749, LCCA #16000 In the mid-1950's Lionel began the manufacture of a series of box cars that have become the most collectible series of cars they ever made. Known as "6464-series" they made 29 of them over a period of about a decade, each with a number of variations that have been identified and catalogued by collectors in the past 50+ years. With such a high demand for these prized collectibles, Lionel re-made and re-issued the series, car by car, 3-cars at a time, between 1993 and 2001. Beginning with "Series I (in 1993) and ending with Series X, the 29 cars were each re-made (two versions of the 6464-100 were made in 1994 to bring the total to 30). Some say they are better than the originals with better graphics, "full rows of rivets" on the sides of each box car, again, more detail than the originals where rivet rows were removed to accommodate rubber stamping, and operating sprung die-cast metal trucks. All TEN sets of the "Series" are offered here together for sale. This is your chance to purchase them all in a single transaction, and save a ton of time and shipping charges. Listed below are the components (and current 2011 Greenburg Pocket Price Guide price) for each of the ten sets offered here: #19247 1993 - Series I ($610): 6441-1 Western Pacific, 6464-25 Great Northern, read more
