LIONEL 671 PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD S2 STEAM TURBINE & 671W TENDER LOT DESCRIPTION: As the title says this lot consists of a Lionel 671, 6-8-6, Die Cast PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD S2 STEAM TURBINE with the correct matching 671W Tender that was made in the late 1940s . The locomotive has a operating headlight and smoke unit and the tender has the staple end trucks with a coil coupler and it also has a whistle. Both pieces are all original Post War Lionel. DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION: The locomotive and tender are both in great shape. The loco casting is perfect, no breaks, cracks or chips. Front decal a little worn but still nice. No rust or missing parts, great color, numbers nice and clear. Typical minor playwear paint rubs on the loco shell. The tender too looks fine, no cracks, breaks or chips on the shell, lettering crisp and clear, and couplers and trucks all fine. Couple minor scuffs on the tender. Again, a very nice looking set that IMHO I would rate as in excellent condition but look at the pictures and you be the judge. WORKING CONDITION: Loco has been packed away for over 50 years and while the e-unit cycles perfectly it did run a little sluggish and hesitated more going backward than forward. Running it did improve its performance a little, probably needs a good motor cleaning and lube job to improve its running. The smoke unit read more
