This is the Lionel 671Turbine Steam Locomotive Train with the 2671W Tender . Judging from the fact this has the 2671W Tender this must be a 1947-1949 model. When I look through the top of the smoke stack I do not see a bulb but rather a coiled wire so I don't think it's the 1946 smoke bulb model. I am going through my father's collection of Lionel trains that I inherited and I am getting down to the end This is an absolutely beautiful train and would make a great addition to your Lionel collection. I am not a train expert at all but I can appreciate the fine craftsmanship that went into making these. I am not sure which model year this train is. When my father had these he displayed them on a track and had the headlights on so I know they worked as of 2001. They have sat in a box since then. If you have any further questions I will try to answer your questions the best I can. I am also listing a Lionel 2025. Below is some very useful information I found on the 671. History The 671 steam engine is Lionel's representation of a turbine locomotive. The 6-8-6 wheel arrangement supported Lionel's advertising claim of 'it's an impressive 20-wheel locomotive!' The prototype was produced for and used by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Due to inefficient fuel consumption, the S-2 was a commercial failure and a second locomotive was never manufactured.
