Offered for auction is a very nice Lionel Engine No. 224E with Die Cast Tender No. 2224W. Please examine the pictures. We believe the engine fully meets the criteria for a rating of C-7 (both cosmetically and mechanically). It looks good and runs even better. E-Unit cycles quickly and the engine speeds in forward or reverse. The very desirable Die Cast tender, though very good, is not quite as nice. The "Lionel Lines" lettering on both sides of the tender is still readable, but has faded and the black paint has lost some of its original luster. Also, we had to strip and repaint the bottom of the tender frame because of flaking of the original paint. It has been rewired and the pot metal whistle sounds loudly. There are no dents or other serious blemishes; all of the steps and railings are present and in very good condition. Thanks for looking.
