LIONEL O GAUGE 2440 2440 2441 3 CAR PASSENGER SET MOST OF THIS WEEK'S CONCURRENTLY RUNNING AUCTIONS ARE LIONEL O GAUGE TOY TRAIN ITEMS. CHECK THEM OUT, THERE ARE NO RESERVE PRICES ON ANY ITEM These cars were offered in 1946 and 1947. When I acquired this set it was in tough condition, and required quite a bit of restoration, NOT REPAINTING. These are the roofs that came with the trio, and I have no explanation as to the difference in the paint condition of them, and the very good condition of the paint on the cars. These roofs can easily be repainted, but I personally do not keep re-paints in my collection, so that option is up to the next caretaker. The couplers all needed restoration or replacement. All replacements are original and all operate properly now. The window inserts had been taped back in place with friction and Scotch tape. If you are familiar with window inserts you know that the tabs also hold the window frames in place. The problem occurs when the tabs are straightened to replace the inserts which shrink over the years and tear out. the tabs are very fragile and usually break when re-closed. My solution is to never unbend the tabs, but to epoxy either the original or a replacement back in place using weights to hold the panel in place until the epoxy dries.
