Lionel 8617 Nickel Plate 4-4-2 Locomotive This is a Lionel #8617 Nickel Plate 4-4-2 Die-cast steam locomotive with plastic tender. Locomotive features include metal die cast body, metal wheels, metal drive rods, operating headlight and puffing smoke synchronized with the drive wheels. The tender has the mechanical sound of steam and a fixed coupler. This was produced from 1986-1991. There are some nicks in the yellow stripe on the side of the locomotive. Other than that I could find no problems with either it or the plastic tender (no cracks, chips, or missing parts). I saw no rust on either pieces. This was tested and ran in both forward and reverse. The light was functioning and the smoke worked. Please email me with any questions.
