THE ITEM IN THIS AUCTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATESLIONEL JUNIOR O GAUGE 1700E POWER CAR IN CHROME AND LIGHT RED - 1935 TO 1937(?)General information about this and future listings: This and all my upcoming vintage toy train listings are from the estate of a longtime collector of mostly prewar Lionel and some O gauge American Flyer trains. Since this collector preferred to display trains rather than run them, some or all of the items may not operate electrically or mechanically and be in need of basic servicing to complete overhauling of the electrical and mechanical components. Also, some parts may be replica replacement parts, which are sometimes difficult to tell from original parts; a damaged sheet metal part may have been straightened for cosmetic or functionality purposes with no or only minimal loss of paint or plating; the paint may be totally original, have minor touch ups, or completely restored, which if touched up or completely restored can sometimes be difficult to detect; and, some or all of the lettering and numbering may be redone and not easily detected. So, if you are looking for perfect, in all respects, prewar or early postwar trains that operate just like they came from the factory, you will not find them here. This does not mean I will not be offering some nice trains, for certainly I will be! As far as condition is concerned, especially of the paint, I am going to rely more on the pictures to tell that story, but I will mention basic information about the item and some detailed information if necessary. As of now, I can only static test (not run on track) an item for operation. If an item worked when tested but fails to operate when you receive it, a number of things could be the cause: a wire has come loose due to handling or jarring during shipping, grime on the wheels or center rail pickup(s), or some component acting sporadically because it needs to be serviced or repaired. Grading as we all know is subjective, so if a grade is specified that grade could differ from yours. So, if you have any questions or comments, I encourage you to contact me (Richard) by phone at or by eBay email .PLEASE NOTE : In actuality, the appearance of the chromium plating on this power car is better than seen in the pictures. There are some small imperfections and surface wear, but the plating is still mostly shiny and fairly clean. The dull areas in the plating on one side of the car (see first picture), and the bright and dark areas on the roof are primarily due to reflected light and the angle the pictures were taken at .Condition: The car looks to be complete, undamaged, and virtually free of oxidation. The die-cast piece with stacks atop the roof has no signs of deterioration. The wheels look good and turn straight, but the two non-geared wheels are somewhat loose on the axles. When static tested, the wheels freely turned in both directions, and the headlight was in working order, but the 3-position E-unit worked only sporadically. I believe a thorough cleaning and servicing of the E-unit might solve the problem. The light red paint is still shiny but has imperfections from play wear, which are mostly on the front and back of the car (see pictures). The upper right area of the cab front has what appears to be a touch-up or splash of red paint possibly from when the part was originally painted. If running the power car is a consideration, a routine servicing of the motor is recommended.
