FREE FAST SHIPPING USPS Priority Mail, Insured, with Delivery Confirmation, is included in the price. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This baby will run two trains at the same time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I start off by COMPLETELY taking the transformer apart BECAUSE it is the only way to inspect, rebuild and lubricate a KW. I spend the extra hours needed to restore KWs PROPERLY. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** The original circuit breaker tested good but I installed a NEW SEALED CIRCUIT BREAKER BECAUSE KW circuit breakers get WEAK with age ( NEVER settle for a 50 year old KW circuit breaker because it will not let you use all 190 watts before it trips ). This new, sealed, 10 amp, thermal , automatic reset, circuit breaker is much more reliable , safer and trips faster when t is a short circuit then the original circuit breaker. I tested the new circuit breaker, the red light does come on when t is a short and it goes off when the short is removed, as it should. ((NOTE: Lionel designed the thermal KW circuit breakers to only protect the KW itself, some of the newer sound systems may require an inline fuse for extra protection, check with and/or read your train’s instructions)). **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** Both carbon rollers were in good shape but I replaced both carbon rollers with NEW CARBON ROLLERS WITH EXTRA COPPER using a Lionel ST 350 press and a Lionel ST 350-8 roll clincher ( just like Lionel installs them ) BECAUSE rollers get SOFT with age. These carbon rollers are made with extra copper for longer wear. **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** I installed a NEW 16 AMP CAPACITY STEM DIODE RECTIFIER in the whistle controllers BECAUSE original rectifier discs get CORRODED, BURNT, and WEAKER with age and BECAUSE reproduction rectifier discs cause reverse polarity and are NOT compatible with modern trains . I use new 16 amp capacity stem diode rectifiers BECAUSE they are compatible with both POSTWAR and MODERN trains and are STRONGER than rectifier discs. I tested the whistle and direction controllers. I tested the whistle controllers on a POSTWAR tender (6466W) and on a MODERN tender (6-28027 with conventional RailSounds), the whistle controller is STRONG , they work great, and the whistle/horn controller polarity is correct . **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** No matter what the original cord looks like, I always install a NEW 1,250 WATT CAPACITY CORD BECAUSE you need your cord to be SAFE and to LAST. This is a quality 72-inch, copper wire, SPT-2 coded PVC insulation, two conductor, cord with molded plug. **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** I will include a copy that I made of the 5 PAGES OF INSTRUCTIONS . **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** Included is a 9X9X9 NEW BOX, LABELED ON FRONT AND BACK (see picture) with bubble wrap inside of it instead of cardboard inserts because bubble wrap cushions far better and offers more protection than cardboard for shipping and for storage of the KW, this box will be inside of a larger box ( DOUBLE BOXED for safe shipping ). **** I replaced one binding post with a NEW binding post. **** I put a NEW orange handle on it. **** ... read more
