CGB#179T LIONEL Catalog # 2025 2-6-2 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE with #2466W Whistle TENDER POST WAR circa 1947-49 PLUS Catalog # 239 2-4-2 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE with TENDER (no number) PLUS 6026W Tender no boxes FEATURES: metal construction on Locomotives Hard Plastic Tender shells on metal frames Reversible engines with switch on top that disables direction reverse Running headlight on front of locomotives Whistle on Tender #2466W (whistle works) CONDITION: overall about C-6. Locomotive 2025 is in very good condition; has paint chips but no dents or missing parts noted except for the screw at the front top of the boiler that holds on the front plate (threads appear OK); the front headlight works; runs well; directional switch works (F-N-R in one position, or only F in other); smoker was not checked (takes pills); a switch was previously added (see last photo of it at end of cab) which we think might be an on-off switch for the smoker, otherwise locomotive appears to be in original un-restored condition; has badge decal at front (5690) and both green jewels; has original "O Gauge" plaque on bottom; gears appears in very good condition; wheels and trucks appear in very good condition and original. Tender #2466W is in very good overall condition; the whistle works; the trucks are both staple end type, but the rear truck does not have roller pickup (manual coupler instead, which works) and there is a wire that would normally attach to such a pickup. The original trucks might have had flying shoe pickups (?) so these could be replacements; the body has some scratches but overall very good with no dents or broken/missing parts noticed (no steps, which appears normal); the metal rail at upper rear of tender matches the railing on Loco #2025. Locomotive #239 is in good to very good original un-restored condition (C-5/6), has some paint chips and a little minor surface rust in some places; no parts appear missing, broken or replaced; it runs OK but appears to not always pickup power, so the 3rd rail pickups contacts may need servicing/cleaning as this causes the engine to reverse direction (there is no neutral) when running slow and the directional switch is in F-R; when the direction switch is in F only position, engine keeps on moving along the track no problem; the headlight works but we do not know about the smoker (probably takes fluid); a switch was added (much like on engine 2025), which may turn the smoker on and off. The "matching" Tender for #239 may not be the actual tender that was sold with 239 (we are not experts and do not know). It is in excellent condition (C-7), and matches size and form; the trucks are plastic and the rear coupler is fixed; made in USA by Lionel Corp of New York. The extra (third) Tender is stamped 6026W (? hard to read), but does not include a whistle (has the hole and truck with roller pickup, but no whistle mechanism). The front (pickup) truck is not staple-end - so post 1950, but the rear truck is a staple-end truck with manual coupler and no pickup. The body has some scratches and one step (plastic) is broken off. This Tender is included for its parts value only. BOXES NOT INCLUDED. SEE PHOTOS and ask questions before buying. PRICE: current eBay listings for the 2025 alone is in the $50-90 range; the 239 is worth at least $20, and the tenders are worth $5-20 each. We have are selling the collection for less.
