Pleas e have confidence in my 100% honest descriptions and please read the following carefully:This is a LIONEL Post-War "O" Gauge No. 2023 Union Pacific FA-1 A-A Locomotive Set, Produced ONE YEAR ONLY in 1950! 1950 was Lionel's 50th Anniversary year and they produced special items which would NEVER be produced again during the Post War period. One of "THE" most sought after items in the 1950 catalog, were these beautiful, yellow & gray locomotives. Each unit measures approx. 10.5" long. The frames and trucks are die-cast metal, while the bodies are heavy gauge plastic. The power A unit has a powerful, worm drive motor, an operating headlight, electromagnetic front coupler and a Diesel Horn. The other A unit is a dummy, with an operating headlight and an electromagnetic front coupler.As you can see from the photos, these old diesels are in very nice, original condition. I carefully removed the body from the power unit, so you can see just how nice and clean the inner workings are, with absolutely no battery damage. There is a tiny bit of light rust on the rear step and on the tops of some screws, which looks as though it will easily clean off. Some of the truck side frames are a bit loose, which is an easy fix with a screwdriver and one is very slightly bent at one end, which should not affect operation and is something that I believe could easily be straightened out, if the new owner wanted to do so. As nice as this set is, I believe it would greatly benefit from a good cleaning. Please note that there is at least one wire that needs to be reattached to the motor. I have not put power to anything, so I have no idea if anything works or not, but the drive wheels turn nicely, turning the gears that turn the armature. I don't see anything broken, but these old eyes of mine are not what they used to be, so please ZOOM IN and look at the photos carefully, to decide for yourself just what we have here.The original box is included and it is complete with all flaps and the original insert, but it is dirty and showing signs of moisture damage. According to the original owner from whom I obtained this set, the locos were kept in the house, while the box had to survive a musty garage, which is why the diesels are so nice and the box the way it is. The original instruction sheet is included, but it was in the box, so it's dirty as well.PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ARE AN INTEGRAL and a VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS LISTING.
