This LionelRW transformer is in very good condition. (see photos) The case hasbeen repainted in a satin finish. Before listing the transformer’s coil, wiper arm, and all contacts were cleaned with CAIG cleaner. The voltage control operates smoothly with no voltage drop outs. Constant and variable voltages were checked using a Fluke digital multi-meter and the following readings found. The readings you obtain may vary somewhat based on the power available at your AC outlet. Variable Voltages Post AU (9-19 Volts) actual reading 9.65 - 19.42 Post BU (6-16 Volts) actual reading 6.77 - 16.48 Constant Voltages Post AC (9 Volts) actual reading 9.60 Post AD (19 Volts) actual reading 19.57 Post BD (15 Volts) actual reading 16.55 Post CD (10 Volts) actual reading 9.94 Direction control was tested and functions correctly. Whistle circuit has been upgraded with a modern diode replacing the original rectifier for added reliability . Whistle control was tested using a Lionel Post War whistle unit and worked with no issues. Circuit Breaker was tested several times and functioned correctly. All solder joints were checked and none were found to be defective. The replacement "L" label AC cord is in good condition The Lionel RW was produced from 1948 thru 1954.
