First let ay that I Specialize in Train and Transformer Service, Overhauls and Repairs and have been doing them since 1970. I have worked for two hobby shops and maintain trains at a local museum. I also have a Background in Electrical Components and Repairs. All my Transformers come from Reliable sources and I Do Not Buy cheap items and Resell them to make a Profit. All my Transformers get checked out prior to my purchasing them for proper operation and being tamper proof. There is No HYPE here or my life long history. I am here to provide a Quality item as seen in the pictures. Pictures are of the actual transformer you will receive and Not Stock Pictures. I am a Professional and pride myself on my work. There are many cheap or attic find transformers on ebay and thats what you get for your money. Just because the case may look good its whats inside that really matters. These items are over 50 + years old and internal components wear and corrode, cords dry out inside the case and rollers become brittle and crack and Solder Joints Crack. Don't be taken By "It looks Like New or It has Power" claims or a Great Box. Be leary of sellers who do not show the Inside of their Transformer and Don't be fooled by the Newbees out there who say they have overhauled the transformer, they have No Formal Training and are just shooting in the dark on repairing an electrical item that could cost you a home fire. They also never show pictures of the insides. Also a coil that is discolored or the paper wrapping is dark brown has seen a lot of use and has overheated. I have many many Years of experience in train and transformer repairs and service. To have the work I perform on my transformers done would cost an average of $150.00 or more at your Local Hobby Shop. An improperly serviced unit could cost you hundreds of dollars in repair with the new electronic circuitry. The replacement Reverse and Sound Boards for these Engines cost in the 150.00 to 250.00 price range to replace plus Labor if they are still available. So why go thru that?? A Transformer that has been in a hot and cold attic or damp basement can be nothing but problems. Some Sellers only replace parts they feel need to be replaced. I Replace All Major Components No Questions Asked LIONEL 275 WATT ZW TRANSFORMER Model R with the Riveted Coil Laminations and Photo Copy of Operating Instructions.Sorry No Box. There is a 6 Month Warranty on replaced Parts and Labor. Does Not Include Return Shipping. To Bring this ZW up to today's standards I have Replaced the Power Cord, Replaced the Circuit Breaker Replaced all 4 Carbon Rollers and Rivets and Replaced the Two Whistle Disks with 2 New Diodes which are more reliable . The Overall Condition of this unit is Exc-. I have Checked all Binding Posts and have replaced 2 that were loose. The Metal Base Plate is Original and has been repainted. Item is in Overall Excellent Mechanical and Electrical Condition. There are No Broken parts on Case. Both Outer handles have been replaced wit New Handles. There are some light scratches on case but does not detract from appearance or operation and some light wear to ZW nameplate on cover. The ZW has Whistle/Start/Stop Controls for TwoTrains and the other Two controls can operate Trains, Accessories or Lighting. There are many pictures so check them all out. It has been Bench and Layout Tested using a Dual Motor F3 and also a 2046W Whistle Tender and Operated Fine. The Variable Output Voltage is at 21.22 Volts and 26.22 Volts with the Whistle Control Activated. Plenty of Power to Run your trains and accessories. On Some Modern Lionel and MTH Items a Special Control button ( 6-5906) may be Required and is available thru lionel and some parts dealers.
