Offered for Sale is this Scarce Postwar #746 Big 4-8-4 " Northern " STEAM ENGINE - The ONLY 4-8-4 ENGINE Lionel Made in the Postwar ERA ! ... Made from 1957-60 this is the Type -1 Version Issued with the Streamlined #746W Norfolk & Western " Short Stripe " TENDER...This Nice matched SET is in Full Excellent Condition - However I believe the plastic " Bullet Nose " Boiler front may be a Reproduction - Otherwise Everything Looks all Original and in Excellent or Better Condition , Nice Original Satin Black Paint ... The Tender has the Scarce " M arbleized " Shell and Crisp Heat Stamped 746W markings & Great Original Stripes ...This Pair RUNS Perfectly , all Freshly Tuned-up and Lubricated to factory Specs ... this is the First & Only Lionel Postwar Steamer to have the " Liquid " SMOKE UNIT Factory Installed- and this one Works Great , Nice Plume of Puffing Smoke...Engine Runs Excellent , Note the Contact Rollers on the Engine's Bottom - this was a SUPER "O" SET , and the Rollers are Frequently Found with large Grooves Cut Down the Center of the Rollers - This one Appears to have seen very Limited Run time , and Even the Original Brushes look almost like New -Lots of milage left in this one - The "E" Unit cycles Correctly , Whistle works Loud & Clear in the Tender & the mag Coupler Operates Remotely...Includes a FULL Bottle of Lionel read more
