These post war, Lionel, A&B locomotive units are modeled after the General Electric F3 diesel locomotive. These “O” scale, Rio Grande units have been serviced by a knowledgeable repairman. The powered unit, number 2379, runs well forward and reverse, and has a working whistle. It is powered by twin-motors and is equipped with magne-traction. One of the decals reads “BLT 3-57 BY LIONEL”. Two of the ladders on the B unit are slightly bent. The rear coupler on the A unit needs the “spring-wire” to keep the drawbar centered. Overall, these vintage Lionel units are in very good condition. The decal on the nose is complete, but checkered some from age. There are a few minor scratches from use, but overall the decals and paint are in very good condition (see photos). For complete accuracy, note that the “silver” roofs are in very good condition, but not quite as perfect as they appear in the photos. There are a few minor scuffmarks, and the silvery color has some bright areas blended with some duller areas. (It may be that a thorough cleaning will even out the brightness, but I didn’t want to chance doing harm using the wrong type of cleaner).
