ANOTHER TRAIN HIGHLIGHT FOR EBAY FOR THIS WEEK IS THE SCARCE 1932 (B) VERSION OF THE SET 240E! LIONEL PRE-WAR “O” GAUGE SET NUMBER 240E VERSION (B), WITH 260E ENGINE and 260T TENDER IN FOREST-GREEN AND BLACK. HAS THE SCARCE DERRICK AND THE BRASS FLOODLIGHT CAR! VERY RARE!!!! Trains are in MINT- condition, with original boxes. Spectacular high-grade pieces of Lionel’s large series “O” gauge of engines with high-grade rare original boxes! THE ENGINE AND TENDER HAVE THE FOREST-GREEN FRAMES! THIS SET HAS EVERYTHING, EXTRA PAPERWORK, GREAT TRAINS, 1932 CATALOG, 812T TOOLS, AND HIGH-GRADE BOXES!VERSION (B) IS THE HARDEST SET TO FIND, DUE TO THE FACT IT IS THE RARE SET WITH BOTH THE DERRICK CAR, AND THE DOUBLE BRASS FLOODLIGHT CAR. IT ALSO HAS THE GONDOLA WITH THE WOODEN BARRELS AND THE NICKEL WORKMAN TOOLS! **SEE “GREENBERG’S GUIDE TO LIONEL TRAINS, 1901-1942, PRE-WAR SETS”, PAGE 60, SET 240-E (B). 260 Engine has the original wheels ( see photo close-up). It also has the original copper and brass trim, with fantastic condition side-rods. There is no rust or corrosion on the piece. Frame is straight, with no warping, and this unit has the nicest roof I have seen on a 260-E. The original “Bogota Paper and Board Corp.” box with all printing intact in red, and is high-grade with all flaps intact, and has insert liner (Rare). The box is a grade 9. The 260-T Tender with forest-green frame is immaculate. I asked a few experts and auction houses about the piece, to find out the story of the Forest-green version. All of them stated that the Forest-green version of the Engine and Tender are the hardest to find and most desirable! The tender box has stamped on the end with a factory stamp, 260-T BLACK. (See box photo) The box has all of the flaps and is a grade 9/10. Box still has the original box insert and “Lionel Electric Trains” 2-color tape intact Due to the condition of this pair, they are very rare! THE 260 ENGINE AND THE 260-T TENDER ARE MINT- TO MINT CONDITION. THIS IS AMAZING AS THE PAINT IS ALL ORIGINAL! Set is Circa 1932 MINT-/OB’s/ SET BOX The rest of the set consists of all very high-grade cars with next to no wheel-wear. The extremely scarce 820 Floodlight Car, black/terra cotta, with magnificent brass lights and ORIGINAL LENSES! It also has copper journals, and is in Mint. ACCORDING TO THE BOOK, THE SET WITH THE FLOODLIGHT CAR COMMANDS A HIGHER PRICE! 812 Dark Green Gondola car with two original opening barrels, with copper journals, is near-mint. 810 Operating Derrick Car, in maroon roof/terra-cotta with peacock boom, with copper journals, is Mint-. THE NICKEL KNOBS ON THE DERRICK ARE ALL ORIGINAL AND THEY ALL WORK FINE! THE 810 OPERATING DERRICK CAR IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN THIS HIGH-GRADE CONDITION, AND WITH THE HIGH-GRADE BOX. 817 Caboose, turquoise blue/black with brass windows, and with copper journals, is Mint-. It is the nicest one I have ever seen. Set also has the number 81 Rheostat in forest green in Mint-. It also has the original 81 Rheostat box. The condition of the boxes are as follows: Set box with fantastic lithograph label is 8 (very high-grade) **See photo**. Box 810 has the original box insert and is a grade 8 ½. Box 820 has the flaps and is a grade 8. Box 817 has the end flaps and is a grade 7/8. Box 812 is extremely strong (RARE) and is a grade 9. Box 81 Rheostat is a grade 8. THE EXTREMELY RARE 812T FOR THE METAL TOOLS IS A GRADE 8. THE 812T SET OF TOOLS, IN NICKEL, ARE EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION AND WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX. The set also comes with the original track in great condition! The lithograph label on the Set Box is the highest-grade I have seen for this old label! **REMEMBER THIS IS THE RARE 1932 SET! The Engine, tender, and cars have next to no wheel wear, AWESOME! NOW FOR THE SCARCE PAPERWORK!
